The European Union’s executive Commission has said that Poland has met the final requirements to receive EUR 76 billion in structural funds from Brussels over the next three years, the government in Warsaw has announced.

Poland’s lawmakers have greenlighted the government’s national budget for 2024, which foresees expenditures of PLN 866 billion (EUR 197.1 billion), with a deficit of 5.1% of GDP, according to European Union methodology.

Representatives from 83 countries have met to discuss the implementation of Ukraine’s peace plan ahead of the World Economic Forum taking place this week in Davos, Switzerland.

Up to 200,000 supporters of Poland’s conservative Law and Justice party have gathered in front of parliament in Warsaw, in defence of free speech, media and democracy, and calling for the release of two ex-ministers jailed earlier in the week.

Poland will maintain its embargo on grain imports from Ukraine „indefinitely,” to protect Polish farmers, while continuing to help Ukraine’s fight against the Russian invasion, the agriculture minister has said.
