A beatification Mass service has been held in Markowa for the Ulma family murdered by Nazis for hiding Jews during World War Two. This was the first time an entire family has been beatified, a great honour and a step towards sainthood.

A Russian naval vessel fired warning shots yesterday at a cargo ship in the southwestern Black Sea and later inspected the vessel. The incident marks the first known use of warning shots by Russia against a commercial ship operating outside of Ukraine since Moscow’s withdrawal from a landmark UN-brokered grain deal.
