The speaker of Sejm (the lower house of the Polish parliament), Elżbieta Witek said on Thursday that public tours of the house and all foreign missions involving MPs will be suspended as a precaution against the coronavirus.
The speaker of Sejm, Elżbieta Witek, while on a trip to the US, told reporters that the Sejm will also halt all conferences. She added, however, that regular Sejm sittings will continue.
On Wednesday Poland recorded its first coronavirus case. The patient, who recently returned from Germany, is hospitalised in Zielona Góra, southwestern Poland.

Polish-British Cooperation in London
Participants in the fourth edition of the two-day Polish-British Belvedere Forum that started at Chatham House, London, on Tuesday discussed Polish-British cooperation in view of Britain’s decision to leave the European Union.
Established in 2017 by the Polish and British governments, the forum is now jointly organised by Chatham House, a prominent policy institute, and the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM).
„The Polish-British Belvedere Forum is a format within which we can discuss difficult issues and jointly arrange solutions to urgent problems. Undoubtedly, it is still possible to strengthen our bilateral relations,” said Pawel Jablonski, Polish deputy foreign minister, as he opened the forum. At the Foreign Ministry, Jablonski is responsible for economic and development cooperation and EU law.
On Tuesday, the first day of the get-together, participants discussed the impact Brexit is likely to have on Polish-British relations and ways of strengthening bilateral ties. They also focused on the two countries’ policies regarding climate change and the labour market.
According to information on the Chatham House website, the Belvedere Forum is a leading annual British and Polish bilateral dialogue bringing together a diverse group of actors from civil society, politics, business, academia and NGOs. It seeks to strengthen and deepen the extensive partnership between the two countries by exploring political, economic, social and cultural issues through debate and discussion.

Prince William Calls for Strong Bond with Ireland after Brexit.
The Duke of Cambridge has called on the UK and Ireland to maintain the bonds of friendship after Brexit, on the second day of his visit to the country.
The duke said relationships between people were „more essential” than legal treaties between states.
He urged the UK and Ireland not to be „bound by the wrongs of the past”.
This is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first official visit to the Irish Republic and they spent much of Wednesday talking to young people.
Of course, the changing relationship between the UK and the EU will require us to work together, to ensure that the relationship between Ireland and the UK remains just as strong,” he said.
„I am confident that friendship, understanding and a shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous future will ensure that the unique and precious bond between our people is not broken.
„My family is determined to continue playing our part in protecting, preserving and strengthening that bond.”

Icelandic President in Gdansk
Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, President of Iceland, spent two days this week in Gdansk. The visit of the President of Iceland to Gdańsk began with laying flowers at the Monument to the Fallen 1970 Shipyard Workers. And visited the European Solidarity Center, where he visited the exhibition on the Solidarity movement, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. He also met the Governor of Pomerania, Dariusz Drelich, the Marshal of Pomerania Mieczysław Struk met with the authorities of the city of Gdańsk.
On his second day, the President, together with the Minister of Education, Science and Culture, will set off on a cruise on the Oceanographic vessel from the Fish Market in the Old City. The visit to Gdańsk ended with a session for popularizers of Icelandic literature in Poland.
