The Health Ministry revealed the number of cases was now above 100,000 on Twitter Sunday morning as infection rates across the country continue to spike.
Recent days have seen record numbers of new cases and an increasing number of areas placed under enhanced restrictions, including all of Tricity and much of the surrounding area. The weekend also saw the UK reimpose quarantine requirements on arrivals from Poland.
However, infection rates in Poland remain below those of most neighbours and cases within Poland have been clustered around hot-spots.
Globally, 35 million cases are now reported, though the true figure is likely much higher due to unreported cases.
In the United States, President Donald Trump has made his first public appearance since being admitted to hospital last week.
Mr Trump, who is currently hospitalised after contracting Covid-19, briefly left the Walter Reed Medical Center on Sunday to visit supporters outside. From his presidential limo, the president waved to well-wishers and could be seen wearing a face-mask.
However, Doctor James Philips, who works at the hospital, criticised the move, pointing out that the air-tight armoured car was a prime setting for the virus to spread, adding that those also in the car should now quarantine.
In an update yesterday, the president’s medical team reiterated that he was doing well and could be discharged as early as today. But it also emerged that Mr Trump’s condition was initially worse than had been revealed, with the president briefly being given oxygen to assist his breathing.
