New data released from the Ministry of Health shows that 99.25% of those infected with the coronavirus aren’t fully vaccinated. The Ministry of Health announced on Twitter yesterday that the number of infections in Poland since the start of the second vaccination dose is 1,400,416 and that the number of cases of infections among fully vaccinated (14 days after administration of the second dose) is 10 610.
The news comes as health officials warn that the daily number of new coronavirus infections in Poland could reach 1,000 by the end of September and then rise to 5,000 by late October.
Speaking in an interview with state news channel TVP Info, Health Minister Adam Niedzielski said that making predictions about the pandemic was „fraught with huge risk.” He went on to predict that number of COVID-19 infections in Poland would begin to rise in the weeks ahead as the summer ends and the Delta variant of the coronavirus begins to spread more quickly.

Poland has agreed to admit 500 Afghan nationals for a period of three months in a gesture of solidarity with its UK and US allies.
Michał Dworczyk, a top aide to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, made the announcement at a press conference yesterday, emphasizing that the Afghan refugees arriving in Poland now are people who worked with NATO and Polish troops during their 20-year mission in Afghanistan.
Some 250 Afghans were expected to arrive in Poland on Friday from the US Air Force’s Ramstein Base in Germany, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.
The first part of the group was scheduled to arrive in Poznań “while the others are going to follow during the next several days, and will be provided with accommodation” in Poznań and the eastern city of Lublin. Only 50 of the 500 recent evacuees are set to stay in Poland, while the rest will head to other destinations over the next quarter.
According to Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, Poland has airlifted over one thousand two hundred people (1,232) out of Afghanistan through neighboring Uzbekistan.
