The United Status is to send another 3,000 troops to Poland as the crisis between Russia, Ukraine and the West continues, amid fears of an imminent invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

The US troop deployment is likely to come from the 82nd Airborne Division based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in response to allies’ concerns over joint Russian and Belarusian military exercises near NATO’s eastern border and separate Russian drills in the Black Sea. The soldiers are expected to be in Poland by next week. In recent days, multiple planes carrying US troops and army equipment have landed in Poland as part of efforts to bolster NATO’s eastern flank and reinforce allies in Eastern Europe.ac

The Polish president has said that the West stands united in solidarity with Ukraine after a video call yesterday with the US President and the leaders of Great Britain, France, Germany, Romania and Canada as well as the heads of NATO and the European Union.

In a press conference after the call, president Duda said that no declaration had been made to send troops to Ukraine, but that there is a readiness to send defence equipment there. He also said that dialogue would continue with Russia to try to diffuse the crisis, but without any concessions that would limit sovereignty or weaken NATO. Some analysts believe an invasion of Ukraine by Russia could begin as early as next week.

They cited increased costs of fuel, energy and external services as some of the factors that have led to their decision. A single ticket journey will now cost 4,80 zł up by 1zł while a monthly ticket is now PLN 109, up from PLN 99. Tickets purchased by mobile devices will be a little cheaper. The new rates will apply from June.

And finally, a man from Gdańsk has been arrested after he threatened a hairdresser with a gun because he didn’t like the results of his wife’s new hair extensions.

During the altercation he demanded a refund from the hairdresser and brandished what appeared to be a firearm. The man from the Przymorze area of Gdańsk was arrested at home as the Police quickly ascertained his identity due to the fact his wife had just been in the salon. Police found drugs at his property. The man was also apprehended on suspicion of a suspected robbery in Wrzeszcz a week ago where the victim was beaten and had their phone and jacket stolen.
