MPs Dismiss Commission Investigating Russian Influence in Polish Affairs
Polish legislatures have dismissed all members of a state panel commissioned to investigate Russian interference in the internal security of Poland. The vote was passed in the Sejm yesterday with the opposition parties voting in favor of the decision and the ruling law and justice party, who had majority control of the parliament when the panel was appointed, voting against it.
The commission recommended between 2010 and 2014 that the prime minister at the time, Donald Tusk, and his cabinet not be appointed to positions dealing with the country’s national security. The recommendation was based on information that Poland’s military counterintelligence service (SKW) maintained close contact with the Russian FSB without the consent of the then-prime minister Donald Tusk, who said the commission was “politically motivated.”

Poland Sues Germany over Illegal Waste Storage
The Polish government has officially filed a complaint against Germany with the Court of Justice of the European Union regarding the illegal storage of waste. The European Commission had already ruled in favor of Poland on the matter and gave Germany thirty days to properly dispose of the waste illegally stored on Polish territory back in October, which did not occur.
The complaint, which concerns thirty five thousand tonnes of waste that entered Poland between 2015 and 2018, will now be reviewed by the court and determine the penalty for Germany for their noncompliance.
