Polish Army Partners with Microsoft to Combat Russian Hacker Group

The Polish Army’s Cyber Command has partnered with US tech company Microsoft to combat a hacker group linked to Russia, which had obtained sensitive information in Microsoft Exchange servers.

Microsoft named Russia-based group Forest Blizzard as the infiltrators who gained “secret, unauthorized access” to email accounts within its Exchange servers. According to the Polish Army Forrest Blizzard had taken “malicious action against public and private entities in Poland.”

Poland’s Cyber Command and Microsoft pledged to work together and “take action against Forest Blizzard and to identify and mitigate the techniques used by the group.” The exploit used by Forest Blizzard, who according to the US and UK governments are connected to Russian intelligence agency GRU, has reportedly been patched by Microsoft.
