Congressional Democrats in the US plan to move forward with a historic second round of impeachment proceedings if Vice President Mike Pence does not take steps to remove President Donald Trump from office.
The unprecedented announcement by the US House of Representatives came after the President’s false claims of election fraud encouraged a mob to storm the US Capitol last week, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and two police officers.
Officials have moved forward with at least two dozen domestic terrorism investigations related to the incident, with several prominent figures already arrested under charges including trespassing, theft, and weapons possession.
Major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, have permanently suspended Trump’s accounts „due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”
