A team of scientists from  the Gdańsk University of Technology and Łódź University of Technology have developed an innovative protein production system based on selected yeast culture. The invention could allow for the effective production of proteins used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry.

Until now, industry has relied on micro-organisms that need temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius to live. Scientists from Gdańsk and Łódź have created a system based on selected yeasts adapted to growth at low temperatures, which opens the way to the effective production of proteins which are damaged by higher temperatures.
