A spokeswoman for the Border Guard said that provocations took place over the past 24 hours near the town of Michałowo and the villages of Czeremcha and Szudziałowo.

In one incident Belarusian forces threw rocks at the Border Guard and cut through razor wire and flashed torches. A window was also smashed in a military vehicle. In another incident the same evening, Polish personnel were pelted with rocks, bottles and tree branches.

In both cases migrants were waiting nearby for an opportunity to cross the border. So far in January, there have been 461 illegal attempts to enter Poland from Belarus. Over the course of 2021, the number of such attempts totalled 39,700.

Sopot city councillors have introduced 10 new bins for the disposal and recycling of electrical and electronic items. The bins will allow the segregation of small electrical devices, phone chargers and batteries. According to officials, Sopot can boast one of the highest waste segregation rates in the country.

Last year, the percentage share of segregated waste amounted to nearly 50%. Waste electrical devices and batteries are dangerous to the environment and should not be thrown into mixed waste containers. The location of the bins can be found in our article on the main Radio Gdańsk news website:
