Lithuania recorded over 4,000 cyber attacks from Russia in 2022.
Although no high-impact attacks were recorded, Lithuania as well as the rest of the Baltic/Eastern EU routinely defend themselves from Russian DDoS/malware attacks as well as attempts to gain access to communication systems and carry out malicious activities.
Russia is well known in the defense community for their efficiency in information warfare, designated by NATO as “phase 0 operations,” where they attempt to gain access to communication systems and media in order to gather intelligence as well as spread misinformation to support their agenda.
The Lithuanian report also notes that despite the frequency of the attacks increasing compared to the previous years, the number of medium-impact events has decreased and there have been no high-impact events in the last 2 years.

In order to find a more environmentally friendly way to maintain city property, while also being quiet and cheap, the city of Katowice in southern Poland has employed 35 sheep to carry out maintenance work on about 1,000 square meters in the Brynów district of the city.
The sheep have no deadline for their work and are “paid” with the grass they eat to maintain the property.
Mieczysław Wołosz of the Katowice Municipal Greenery Department said the department was approached by a breeder who already provided the service to several other municipalities such as Gliwice.
Wołosz provided the statement: “Air pollution is a serious problem, and lawn mowers are noisy. That is why we decided to test this more ecological way. Once the experiment is over, we will summarize, recalculate, and consider whether it will be worth at least partially introducing this method of “mowing” on a permanent basis.”
