Russian President Vladimir Putin signed documents to incorporate Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions into Russia during a televised ceremony in the Kremlin yesterday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will reportedly host a ceremony today at the Kremlin to officially annex the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine, territory amounting to some 15 percent of Ukraine’s total landmass.
The European Commission on Wednesday proposed new import bans on Russian products and tighter trade restrictions as part of a new package of European Union sanctions.
During a speech yesterday to the United Nations Security Council, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed Russia is trying to steal Ukrainian territory in what he called “a brutal violation” of the UN charter.

Over the weekend, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed directly to Russian citizens not to submit to Vladimir Putin’s „criminal mobilization.”
Staged referenda on joining Russia began Friday in Ukraine in the Russian-occupied oblasts of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk.
