The European Union’s executive Commission has said that Poland has met the final requirements to receive EUR 76 billion in structural funds from Brussels over the next three years, the government in Warsaw has announced.

Poland’s lawmakers have greenlighted the government’s national budget for 2024, which foresees expenditures of PLN 866 billion (EUR 197.1 billion), with a deficit of 5.1% of GDP, according to European Union methodology.

Representatives from 83 countries have met to discuss the implementation of Ukraine’s peace plan ahead of the World Economic Forum taking place this week in Davos, Switzerland.

Poland’s national railway carrier PKP has signed a contract to buy 63 high-speed engines, with an option for a further 32, for a total sum of PLN 3.5 billion (EUR 808 million), the company’s biggest-ever deal.
