The British Defence Secretary has said that he believes that if the international community of willing countries continues to supply Ukraine with weapons it can win the war against Russia.

The UK has recently offered multiple-launch rocket systems to Ukraine in a move which has angered the Kremlin. In a move that has been coordinated with the USA, the UK has offered multiple-launch rocket systems to Ukraine. The rocket-launch systems promised by the UK have a target range of 80 km.

Poland’s President has opened the Local Government Economic Congress and the II Three Seas Initiative Forum of Regions in the Polish city of Lublin on yesterday.

The Three Seas Initiative brings together European Union countries situated between the Black, Baltic and Adriatic Seas: Poland, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary. President Andrzej Duda wrote an address to the participants of Monday’s session saying, „Today the main theme of the Three Seas is energy security, building energy independence, at the same time limiting the possibility of blackmail by Russia”.

The 11th Stanisław Moniuszko International Vocal Competition opened yesterday at the Polish National Opera in the capital Warsaw.The contest is named after Stanisław Moniuszko, dubbed „the father of Polish national opera”. His operatic arias and songs are among the compulsory pieces on the event’s programme.

More than 80 singers are taking part in the competition, representing countries from across the world, including Mexico, Brazil and China, as well as the Republic of South Africa, the United States and Canada. Contestants are set to vie for the top prize of EUR 15,000 and a host of invitations to many prestigious opera and concert venues.

A driver who drove through Gdańsk’s famous pedestrianised Old Town at the weekend in a rented car in an apparent deliberate attempt to run down pedestrians has been charged.

The incident happened at around 2am on Saturday evening into Sunday morning when the 30-year old driver of the vehicle drove down Long Street in the centre of the Old Town in Gdańsk. In a 4 minutes wrecking spree, the perpetrator ran over 2 pedestrians, seriously injuring one of them and was seen to be targeting other people who were walking in the area. The charges of dangerous and reckless driving bring penalties of between 6 months and 8 years in prison.
