Poland has scored well in one of the top 3 ratings agencies assessment of the economic health of the nation. S&P Global has affirmed Poland’s „A-” long-term foreign-currency credit rating, with a stable outlook, as economies struggle with the fallout from Russia’s war against Ukraine.
S&P, one of the world’s „Big Three” credit rating agencies, said at the end of last week it was keeping Poland’s long- and short-term foreign-currency sovereign credit ratings at A-/A-2, with a stable outlook. The rating agency maintained the country’s local-currency ratings at “A/A-1.” It cited Poland’s competitive and diversified economy as well as strong economic and fiscal performance as the rationale for the rating action, according to a statement by the Polish finance ministry.

Drinking cola can put you at risk of developing kidney stones, Polish researchers have warned.
A professor and her team from the Institute of Physics of the Łódz University of Technology found out that phosphoric acid contained in some non-alcoholic carbonated drinks, especially cola, may cause faster growth of urinary stone layers in people who already have a stone unrelated to a bacterial infection in their urinary tract, the scienceinpoland.pl website wrote. This is due to the fact that the kidney stone surface is usually porous and promotes the adhesion of bacteria, which can become centres of subsequent urinary stone layers. Phosphoric acid is used in soda to give it a sour taste and as a preservative.

Poland’s Miss World 2021 has taken part in Sunday’s annual Pulaski Day Parade held in New York City’s Fifth Avenue.
Thousands of Polish Americans took part in the 85th edition of the parade. The yearly march honours Brigadier General Casimir Pulaski, the Polish hero of the American Revolutionary War who died at the Battle of Savannah in October 1779. Other notable guests included New York’s Mayor and Poland’s ambassador to the UN. Marching in the white-and-red event, held under the motto: “Marching with Heart, Soul and Love of Polonia,” were Polish diaspora organisations, such as the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union and the Polish Slavic Center, youth bands, as well as students and teachers from educational institutions affiliated with the Association of Polish Schools in America, as well as representatives of the clergy, war veterans and scouting organizations.

And finally, almost 2,500 runners took part in the 9th edition of the Garmin Gdansk Half Marathon this weekend.
The winner of the event, Przemysław Dąbrowski, reached the finish line in a time of 1 hour, 7 minutes and 53 seconds. The fastest woman to the finish line came in at 1 hour, 22 minutes and 30 seconds, and 31st place overall.
