The death toll from a Russian missile attack on an apartment building in Dnipro on Saturday has risen to 35, with an additional 75 people, including 14 children, injured in the attack.
Some 40 people remain unaccounted for in the wreckage of the nine-story residential apartment building, with the mayor of Dnipro telling Reuters the chances of finding more survivors are now “minimal.” The strike in Dnipro was one of Russia’s most deadly attacks in recent weeks, with additional strikes in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, and Lviv causing extensive damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. As temperatures continue to plummet across the country, the CEO of Ukrainian energy company Yasno, Sergey Kovalenko, warned Ukrainians to be prepared for extensive energy blackouts. In a post on social media yesterday, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki condemned Russia for “deliberately committing further war crimes against civilians,” calling on the international community to “act immediately to stop” further inhumane acts.
Today marks the 327th day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Gdańsk rescuers saved three divers from Spain over the weekend after their motorboat broke down near Górki Zachodnie, leaving the divers adrift in difficult conditions.
The four-meter (13 ft) motorboat broke down late Saturday night about three nautical miles (5 km) north of Górki Zachodnie around the mouth of the Martwa Wisła. The three-person crew had reportedly been fighting for six hours to regain control of the unit before being rescued around 3:30 Sunday morning.
A spokesperson for the Maritime Search and Rescue Service (SAR) later told the Polish Press Agency (PAP) that the “Spanish citizens were slightly hypothermic but did not require hospitalization”.
According to PAP, police officers determined that the boat lacked essential safety equipment for navigation and communication, and the crew of the boat was not authorized to operate the unit or dive in the area.

The Polish men’s 5000-meter relay speed skating team made history yesterday after winning a bronze medal on the last day of the European Short Track Championships in Gdańsk.
For the first time in the history of this event, a Polish team–Diane Sellier, Łukasz Kuczyński, Michał Niewiński, and Paweł Adamski–stood on the podium, joining 500-meter runner-up Natalia Maliszewska as the only Polish medalists in the annual competition. 139 competitors from 25 countries competed in the 26th European Short Track Championships over the weekend, the third time Poland has hosted the competition and the second time the event has been held in Gdańsk. The Netherlands topped the medals table with 10 medals–six gold, three silver, and one bronze. Team Poland tied with Hungary to finish in fourth place, while Russia and Belarus were excluded from the competition by the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
