In the most recent development of the decades old conflict between Israel and Palestine, 5,000 rockets as well as Palestinian infantry have penetrated the Israeli border. There have been several multinational casualties recorded on both sides, however, none so far have been Polish citizens.
According to Jacek Siewiera, Head of the Polish National Security Bureau, 670 Polish nationals have been evacuated from Israel via aircraft so far with “at least as many more awaiting evacuation.” Siewiera also stated that the evacuation is an ongoing operation and that a dedicated airlift has been established for this purpose.
President Andrzej Duda made the statement: “Based on information from the foreign ministry and the Polish Military contingent in Lebanon, no Poles have been harmed in the attacks so far.” The President also urged Polish citizens to cancel any trips to Israel while remaining Polish nationals in the West Bank area are being located and evacuated.

During an informal EU summit in Grenada, Spain, no declaration was reached concerning the migration crisis. The pact once again proposed “mandatory solidarity” in the management of the crisis, implying that Poland and Hungary would be compelled to “contribute to the management and reception of asylum seekers” and follow other EU member states in taking in large amounts of foreign nationals.
Although it may be important to note that the migrants and refugees that the EU would like countries like Poland to receive appear to be arriving specifically from Africa and the Middle East, considering that since February 2022 Poland has allowed 15.4 million Ukrainian refugees to cross the Polish border with a large portion of them resolving to end their journey in Poland.
Prime Minister Morawiecki was confident with his resolve in not accepting the terms, arguing that his greatest concern with the matter was the safety of Polish citizens.

President Andrzej Duda has recently accepted the resignations of Chief of the General Staff Gen. Rajmund Andrzejczak and Armed Forces Operational Commander Gen. Tomasz Piotrowski. The resignations allegedly stem from a disagreement with the defense minister.
The President named Gen. Wiesław Kukula and Gen. Maciej Klisz as the new recipients of the respective positions. The President stated that the appointments were taking place in an “exceptional situation to minimize any disruptions to the command of the armed forces.”

Poland has accepted a proposal by Ionway to be the location of a €1.7 billion (7.75 billion zloty) facility that will produce cathode active materials for EV batteries. Ionway is a joint venture between PowerCo of the Volkswagen group and Umicore, a Belgian materials firm. The facility will be located in the town of Nysa in the Opole region.
According to Ionway, the skilled workforce and green energy sources were what drew the company to locate there, and it would not be the first time, considering Umicore has an existing materials plant in the nearby town of Radzikowice, which runs on 100% green energy.
