The chief of the Polish association of epidemiologists says a third Covid-19 vaccine will be necessary for certain groups. Professor Robert Flisiak told TVN24 that first research results have confirmed scientists’ assumptions that those with immunity deficits and older people will need a third dose of the vaccine.
He also added that there is still time for Poland to “follow in Britain’s footsteps”, saying that the UK’s early start in vaccinating its population means that it is now able to go through a current wave of infections with lower hospital admissions and fewer deaths.
By July 10th, Poland had fully vaccinated just under 15 million people with either one or two shots, according to the current vaccine protocols.

Covid Hasn’t Dented Family Finances in Poland
The vast majority of Poles say their household finances have survived the Covid-19 pandemic in good shape, according to a survey.
72 percent of those polled for Santander Consumer Bank described the state of their finances as “good”.
But the survey also revealed that one in three Poles is emerging from the crisis with no savings to their name.
And, according the report by IBRiS research institute, for 20 percent of Poles the biggest expense during the pandemic was home renovation.

Spate of Storms Damages Property Across Poland
Storms across Poland resulted in more than 700 callouts for firefighters between Sunday and Monday, with the hot weather expected to continue in many places for several more days.
State fire services chief commander Krzysztof Batorski told the Polish Press Agency that no-one was hurt in the weather-related emergencies.
Most of the incidents requiring firefighter assistance happened in the Małopolskie and Mazowieckie voivodships.
Separately, it’s been reported by Polskie Radio that ten people drowned at the weekend in Poland as people took to the water in the hot weather.

Do you Speak Pierogi?
A team of 20 people has broken the Polish record for speed-making pierogi by finishing more than 2,500 pierogi in an hour at the Kashubian strawberry festival in Chmielno.
Ten volunteers rolled out and cut dough while another ten finished the dumplings, which contained 40 kilograms of Kashubian strawberries.
Chef Łukasz Konik, who supervised the effort, said that at the tasting session afterwards, there was enough for everyone.
