Missile strikes were reported across Ukraine yesterday as the war enters its fifth month.
Four people were wounded after Russian missiles hit a large Ukrainian military base near the Polish border early Saturday morning.
According to regional governor Maxim Kozitsky, Russia fired six missiles from the Black Sea, with four hitting the base near Yavoriv District and two being intercepted and destroyed before hitting their targets.
In northern Ukraine, at least one Ukrainian serviceman was killed and another injured when Russia struck a military target in the Zhytomyr region. Some 30 missiles were launched at the facility, according to regional governor Vitaliy Bunechko, with 10 missiles being intercepted and destroyed.
In the Chernihiv region, also in the north, governor Vyacheslav Chaus said the town of Desna had come under massive rocket strikes. Chaus added that the attack on Saturday morning caused infrastructure damage but no casualties.
According to reports in Reuters, Desna is home to a training center for Ukraine’s infantry forces.

Authorities are urging residents and tourists in Poland to be cautious when swimming and enjoying other water sports to escape the heat.
On Saturday, a 15-year-old from Starogardski poviat drowned in lake Wielki Borzechowskie near Zblewo after jumping into the water with his friends. Police reported over a half dozen deaths over the weekend in Poland due to drowning.
Since the beginning of April, over 115 people have drowned in Poland. Officials say alcohol is among the leading causes of swimmers drowning in Poland, and deaths often occur in bathing areas not patrolled by lifeguards.
The Government Centre for Security (RCB) has appealed to citizens to steer clear of unguarded beaches and wear a life jacket when on a boat or canoe.

The Bureau of Marine Meteorological Forecasts in Gdynia has issued a second-level warning for high temperatures across the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The warning is in effect from Saturday at 12:00 to Tuesday until 20:00. Weather forecasters say the maximum temperature during the day can range from 29 degrees to 33 degrees. The minimum temperature at night will be between 15 and 19 degrees.
Residents are advised to limit exposure to full sun by staying indoors if possible, drinking plenty of water, and using sunscreen or wearing a hat when outdoors. Due to the heat, alcohol and physical exertion should be avoided, and children and pets should not be left in vehicles, even for short periods.

Polish athletes took home a silver and a bronze at the world swimming championships in Budapest on Saturday.
Poland’s Katarzyna Wasick took the silver in the women’s 50m freestyle on the last day of competition, finishing narrowly behind Sarah Sjöström of Sweden.
Earlier in the day, Poland’s Ksawery Masiuk claimed the bronze in the men’s 50-meter backstroke. The 17-year-old touched in at 24.49 seconds to finish third behind Americans Justin Ress and Hunter Armstrong.

The band Byty will be broadcast live from Radio Gdańsk tonight as part of the recurring „Metropolia Jest Okey” series in conjunction with the Baltic Sea Cultural Center (Nadbałtyckie Centrum Kultury).
Hailing from Gdańsk, the group features Katarzyna Siepka on vocals and Wojtek Chroboczyński on ukelele, accompanied by rhythmic backing tracks by Paweł Przyborowski and Sebastian Lipiński.
The artists have been working together since 2018 to create electronic music inspired by nu-jazz and art-pop. Drawing on the influences of lo-fi, trip-hop, and art-pop, the group combines samples from old recordings with modern vocal melodies to create a sound that is both timeless and modern.

The concert starts at 20:00 and will be broadcast live on air, as well as on the website and Facebook profiles of Radio Gdańsk and the Nadbałtyckie Centrum Kultury.
