More than 40 United Nations members, including Poland, the UK, and the United States, have condemned Russia for abusing its UN Security Council seat to spread disinformation and distort history.
In a joint statement on Monday, the group of UN members collectively condemned “Russia’s continued efforts to distort history for its own political purposes and to promote hugely damaging false narratives and disinformation about neighboring countries, including by labeling others as 'neo-fascists’ and 'neo-Nazis’ without a basis in fact.”
The statement went on to reaffirm “unwavering support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine” while again calling on Russia “to end its brutal and premeditated war of aggression” and “to withdraw immediately, completely, and unconditionally its forces and equipment from the territory of Ukraine.”
The statement was signed by current and aspiring EU member states, such as Georgia, North Macedonia, and Moldova, along with the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

President Andrzej Duda signed a bill into law yesterday that will subsidize coal for households in Poland in response to soaring energy prices.
Under the law, households will be able to buy up to 3 tons of coal from importers for no more than PLN 966.60 per ton, while the rest of the cost will be covered by government funds.
According to Climate and Environment Minister Anna Moskwa, the system will cover households, housing cooperatives, and associations that use coal for heating.
The government has reportedly allocated PLN 3 billion (EUR 635 million) for the program, with compensation going directly to entrepreneurs who sell coal to households rather than the buyers themselves.
Registered entrepreneurs who carry out economic activity in the field of marketing fuels will be entitled to compensation up to PLN 1,073.13 gross for the sale of one ton of solid fuel per individual household.
The initiative is designed to protect customers from the effects of rising prices of coal in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and corresponding restrictions on energy exports by the Russian government.

The cities of Trójmiasto have collectively signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations’ Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to provide a range of services to Ukrainian refugee children.
The project will give refugee children and their families access to early childhood education and childcare, organized foster care, psychological support, and integration programs for children with disabilities. UNICEF will provide necessary goods and funding directly to municipalities or non-governmental organizations working on related projects.
UNICEF’s Refugee Response Coordinator in Poland, Rashed Mustafa Sarwar, praised a similar project in Poznań for providing a means “to ensure that all children have access to education, healthcare, and psychological support, so as to guarantee them protection and healthy development.”
Details of the cooperative project between UNICEF and the cities of Trójmiasto will be specified in an upcoming Work Plan. According to Sarwar, the program aims “to take care of the widest possible group of young refugees.”

Local officials are reminding swimmers to exercise caution and observe beach closures after a death and near-drowning yesterday near Sobieszewska Island.
Rescuers pulled a 48-year-old woman out of the water near beach entrance number 7 near the town of Świbno on Sobieszewska Island yesterday afternoon. The woman was successfully resuscitated after 50 minutes after extensive CPR and early AED use by rescuers.
A 32-year-old man who drowned near Jantar beach, north of Nowy Dwór, was not so lucky. Despite rescuers working on him for nearly two hours, the man could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to high waves, swimming is currently forbidden in most swimming areas in Gdańsk, including beaches on Sobieszewska Island.
