Poland’s climate and environment minister has met with the US energy secretary to discuss the status of Poland’s first nuclear power plant construction.
During the meeting which was held at the summit of the US-led Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECC) in Zagreb, Croatia, on Wednesday, the Polish minister said that the project is „on schedule”. In November, Poland’s government greenlighted plans to develop nuclear energy in the country. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced at the time that Poland’s „first nuclear facility will be built using US technology in cooperation with the American company Westinghouse Nuclear. He revealed that Poland’s first nuclear power plant would be built „in the north of the country” and cost around USD 20 billion.

Poland is set to boycott the world boxing championships over its stance on Ukraine. The International Boxing Association (IBA) has opened disciplinary proceedings against a host of countries planning to boycott this year’s world championships in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
A total of eleven countries, including Poland, have said they will boycott the amateur world boxing championships over the inclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes. The IBA has so far launched disciplinary action against five countries, the USA, Canada, the Czech Republic, Sweden and New Zealand.

A senior receptionist from the Sofitel Grand Hotel in Sopot has come third in the World’s Best Receptionist Competition. Held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, the event brought together winners of national competitions from seventeen countries in Europe, Asia, North Africa, Australia and the Middle East.
First place went to a receptionist from the Mandarin Oriental Doha Hotel. A receptionist from the Jumeirah Al Qasr hotel in the United Arab Emirates was named first runner-up. Competitors had to compete in a number of back and front-office tasks to win the coveted prize.

The Pomeranian authorities which cover administration of the Gdansk and Three Cities areas has applied for funding to the value of PLN 46 million to improve pedestrian safety across the region.
In a similar project two years ago, the local government in the region received PLN 24 million in funding. Regional administrations are competing for range of funds from central government. The application process runs until the end of March.
