The Ministry of Health has begun issuing e-registration referrals for a third round of “booster” vaccinations for all people over 50 years of age and healthcare professionals who have direct contact with patients. Referrals will be automatically issued by PESEL number when six months have elapsed after the final dose of each vaccine.
People who received the single-dose Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine during the primary immunization process are eligible for the booster dose. The Ministry of Health announced previously that booster doses would be administered using the Comirnata Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, regardless of the previous vaccination type.
As of September 23, GPs may issue direct referrals for specific groups of people in the absence of an automatic e-referral. Certain individuals, including those with severe immunodeficiency issues, may already register online by entering vaccination information for a third dose.
For those traveling, the additional booster shot will not affect the validity of the current EU COVID passport.
