Ukrainian presidential aide Andriy Yermak yesterday announced via Telegram: „The great Easter prisoner exchange. We are bringing 130 of our people back. It has been taking place in several stages over the past few days. Servicemen, border guards, National Guard members, sailors, State Special Transport Service employees.”
Yermak pointed out that the exchanges took place on the day Orthodox Christians in Ukraine celebrate Easter. He went on to share on Twitter the following message:
„Easter. Hope is the quintessence of the holiday. This is exactly what the prisoners’ relatives felt having waited for so long. „Heroes must live” – that’s what President Zelensky always says. Our team, the Coordinating Headquarters for the Prisoner of War Treatment is carrying out their task. It’s short: bring everyone back. And we will.”

The Hatikva Foundation, a Jewish-Polish non-profit organization, organized a tribute in front of the Brandenburg Gate yesterday afternoon, to commemorate the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and spread awareness about the historical event.
The participants waved Polish and Israeli flags. The event was accompanied by an exhibition with information about the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. The square in front of the Brandenburg Gate, Pariser Platz, is a popular spot for people from many walks of life to make artistic and political statements.
Insurgents of the Warsaw Ghetto picked up arms on April 19, 1943, to fight a daunting, ultimately hopeless battle that was doomed to end badly at the hand of their Nazi tormentors. They chose to go down in history as martyrs who fought with dignity, rather than to allow the German occupiers to herd them into cattle cars and take them to gas chambers.

Yesterday afternoon’s meeting between Arka and Skra ended with a late winning goal. The team from Częstochowa defeated the locals in Gdynia 0-1, the only goal scored by Szymon Szymański. Just before the winner, Arka themselves hit the post on the 81st minute and were unlucky not to go ahead. By dropping points Arka now sit in 7th place, just outside of the play-off positions with seven games remaining to play in the season.
This is the fifth game in a row now for Arka without a win. The recent change of coach has not yet helped get the team back to winning ways. The yellow and blues have lost at home to a team in the relegation zone, which, combined with a recent run of poor results and a win for Podbeskidzie, means Gdynia have dropped down a position and look less likely to return to the Ekstraklasa next season.

Over the weekend, for the first time in many years, there was a classification tournament (where children could achieve the fifth and fourth category ranking), and an International Chess Federation (or FIDE) tournament – where it was possible to get an international ranking.
The tournaments were held on Friday and Saturday in the Secondary School Complex, where from September chess will be one alternative physical education hour in the first and second grades of primary school.
The Classification Tournament for the ZSO Director’s Cup winner was Michał Walter, who won a set of six victories. Among the juniors, Sebastian Tandecki was the champion. And as for the Saturday competition for players on at least the fourth official category level, 20 players took part who wanted to qualify for the FIDE classification. The first place was won by Waldemar Maciejewski.
