Poland ramps up bid for WWII damages from Germany
The Polish government is ramping up its bid to receive World War II damages payments from Germany and expects to soon receive support from international partners, according to officials. Speaking to reporters, a deputy foreign minister remarked that, “It’s a process. I have made a series of visits to Italy, Greece, Serbia as well as the US.” He added that the Polish government was in “the process of persuading” its „friends and allies” and that its bid for WWII damages from Germany was “on the right track.” In September last year, the Polish government announced that the losses suffered by Poland at the hands of Nazi Germany during World War II totalled PLN 6.22 trillion (EUR 1.3 trillion) and that it would demand compensation from Berlin.
