Israel and Hamas agreed to a deal early on Wednesday that stipulated a ceasefire for four days while Hamas released fifty hostages in exchange for humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip and the release of one hundred-fifty Palestinian prisoners from Israel.

Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi stated that the exchange will proceed according to the original agreement between the parties (Israel and Hamas) and not before Friday due to Hamas and the Qatar mediators having yet to officially sign having yet to sign. Several Arab Ministers praised the agreement but remarked that it is the first step in what should become a full ceasefire. Israel is reportedly willing to extend the ceasefire in exchange for more hostages, and a source from the Gaza Strip said that as many as 100 hostages could be released by the end of November.

Poland’s National Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against sixteen non-Polish nationals for spying on behalf of Russia. The suspects face up to ten years in prison if convicted. According to Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) the suspects carried out espionage and propaganda activities and were preparing for acts of sabotage in return for payment from Russian handlers.

The group reportedly conducted reconnaissance on Poland’s critical infrastructure, namely major military facilities in Warsaw, and southeastern Poland along the border with Ukraine.

Poland has rejected proposed changes to EU treaties saying they would reduce Poland’s sovereignty, as well as those of all member states. The Polish government released an official statement saying the EU proposals „reduce the role of the principle of unanimity in the European Council” and therefore „limit the powers of member states.”

While Poland’s government submitted a resolution to reject the EU’s proposals, its government still stressed its firm support for Poland’s presence in the European Union, which is meant to be an alliance of free, equal and sovereign states.

The Legislature is set to be voted upon on Wednesday.
