A planned meeting between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his Baltic counterparts had to be canceled after the Estonian prime minister tested positive for COVID-19.
Tusk was due to hold talks yesterday with the prime ministers of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania on a range of issues, including “the situation on the eastern border,” regional cooperation, and the outcome of last week’s European Council summit.
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas announced on Sunday morning that the meeting would not occur as she had tested positive for COVID-19.
In a post on social media, Tusk wished Kallas a speedy recovery, saying the group had “so much to talk about” including “borders, Ukraine” and “our common security.” He finished by wishing all a “Merry Christmas.”

The latest Eurostat figures rank Poland as 19th in the European Union in terms of products and services produced per capita, with a figure equal to 79% of the EU average.
Luxembourg had the biggest GDP per capita in 2022, at 256% of the EU average, followed by Ireland (235%) and Denmark (136%). The study showed Poland’s GDP per capita in 2022 was up from 77% in 2021.
According to Eurostat officials, while GDP serves as “an indicator of the level of economic activity,” actual individual consumption (AIC) is better adapted to describe the “material welfare of households.”
Eurostat data shows Poland’s level of AIC at 87% of the EU average in 2022, up from 85% in 2021, placing the country 14th in the EU league table, alongside Slovenia and Portugal.
Luxembourg came first, with individual consumption levels at 138% of the EU average, followed by Austria and Germany at 118%.
