Polish President Calls for Continued Support of Ukraine at Davos

President Andrzej Duda called on the west to continue to support the Ukrainian war effort against Russia’s invasion and to strengthen defense cooperation for Europe in response to the country’s aggression.

The president made his statements during a panel at the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He continued to stress that in relation to defense nations of Europe should cooperate to form a “European tank” and further develop the Air Force and defenses of the continent.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba agreed, stressing Ukraine’s need for air superiority in its fight against Russia, while Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouska stated that Belarus must also be free and democratic along with Ukraine to further reduce the threat of Russian aggression.

Parliament to Approve 2024 Budget This Week

PM Donald Tusk has announced that the government’s 2024 financial budget is to be approved by the end of this week.

The budget is set to include policy solutions to maintain the government’s agreement with Polish truckers, who have disbanded their blockade until March, an increase in the family allowance to PLN 800 per child per month, and a historic raise for teacher salaries.

Gdańsk Named Fourth Best City in Europe to Live In

The Polish City of Gdańsk has been rated as Europe’s fourth best city to live in according to the European Commission’s „Report on the Quality of Life in European Cities.” Another Polish City, Białystok, ranked highest in quality of life improvement in the last five years according to a survey of its residents.

Of the total number of people surveyed in Gdańsk about their quality of life, 95% of those who answered said they were satisfied.

Ski Jumping World Cup Event in Szczyrk Canceled Due to Wind

The FIS Ski-Jumping World Cup in Szczyrk, Poland, was canceled mid-way through the event due to the windy conditions. At the time Poland’s Dawid Kubacki led the event with a jump of 98.5 meters, with three other Poles: Kamil Stoch, Piotr Żyła, and Paweł Wąsek also in the top 10.
