The Polish Prime minister has called on the west to supply Ukraine with arms as the threat of a Russian invasion continues to loom over the country.
The statement from the PM came ahead of a summit between the European Union and the African Union in Brussels. He told reporters that Ukraine needed bother financial, political and military hardware support as well as the threat of sanctions against Russia. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the danger of a Russian invasion of Ukraine remained „very high”.

Strong winds and stormy weather around Poland has wreaked destruction across the country yesterday. Three people were killed and 12 others injured after the winds hit Poland this week, snapping trees, damaging roofs and disrupting power supplies.
Firefighters were called out almost 13,000 times over the course of 24 hours on Thursday, across all regions of the country with more than 500 buildings having their roofs destroyed. In central-west Poland a tornado damaged 50 buildings and over 320,000 customers were left without electricity at one point. In another incident caused by the extreme weather, two construction workers were killed and two others injured after a 30-metre crane collapsed in the southern city of Kraków on Thursday morning.

Poland’s central bank will do all it takes to ensure a lasting reduction in inflation, its chief has said. Speaking in an interview with the Super Express tabloid, Adam Glapiński said that in January, inflation reached 9.2 percent in Poland which was high, but lower than the Czech Republic which ran inflation at 9.9 percent.
He announced that his National Bank of Poland (NBP) would next month issue its inflation and GDP forecasts for the country until 2024. He also added that the job market and economy were strong in the country and ruled out freezing the interbank WIBOR rate, which influences the cost of mortgage loans adding that such a move would amount to interference in the market. Glapiński earlier this month told reporters than inflation in Poland should drop to around 5 percent in 2023.

A 31 year old man from Gdynia has been arrested after it was alleged that he tried to bribe a nurse to obtain a COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
The case came to light after a woman approached police saying that the man had come to a vaccination centre and tried to bribe her. The man went through the entire pre-vaccination process, leaving a note and money on an adjoining table. The note explained that he did not want to receive the vaccine and the money was visible next to the note. Attempted bribery attracts imprisonment of up to 8 years.
