The Polish government is set to temporarily halt the import of Ukrainian grain in an effort to stabilize the market in Poland.
Speaking on Friday, the Polish agriculture minister announced that transit will still be allowed. The minister made the announcement to the media at Poland’s border with Ukraine following talks with his Ukrainian counterpart. The halt is designed to free up Poland’s warehouses ahead of this year’s harvest. The announcement came a day after the new minister took over Poland’s agriculture brief, replacing the previous minister who resigned amid farmers’ protests over slumping prices of produce.

The Chinese president has said that he is „willing to speak” to the Ukrainian president about the ongoing war in Ukraine, according to the head of the European Commission.
Ursula von der Leyen made the remark after a three-way meeting with China’s Xi and French President Emmanuel Macron in Beijing on Thursday. Von der Leyen and Macron arrived in China on Wednesday for a three-day visit designed to urge Xi not to deliver weapons to Moscow and help end the war in Ukraine. During the visit, The Chinese president said China and France had the „ability and responsibility” to safeguard world peace.

Thousands of worshippers braved wintry conditions in the South of Poland yesterday to attend a play depicting the Passion of Jesus as the country marked Good Friday of the Easter commemorations.
Some 65,000-faithful flocked to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska for this year’s Passion play, which started at 6 am. in line with a tradition that dates back to the early 17th century, over one hundred amateur actors, mainly local guides and alumni of the town’s Bernardine school of theology, staged scenes from the Way of the Cross. The famous annual Passion play began with Jesus’ trial before the High Priest Caiaphas; the pilgrims then proceeded with prayers along the Stations of the Cross, each of which featured a scene from the Gospel.

And finally, the Christian charity group Caritas is organizing Easter breakfasts in Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot this weekend for the poor of the Three Cities.
Supported by the mayors of each city and an army of volunteers, breakfast packages will be distributed, and hot meals will be available at Caritas centres on the Three Cities. The occasion marks an opportunity to spend time with people and share common humanity amongst each other. In Gdańsk Easter breakfast takes place at 12 noon at St Nicholas Church on Świętojańska Street in the centre of the city. In Gdynia there will be a breakfast at 8 am on Sunday at the Sixth Secondary School on Mikołaja Kopernika Street. The Sopot breakfast took place this morning at 9am.
