The Polish president has said he sees no need for changes at the top levels of the Polish military in the wake of a scandal where a possible Russian missile landed in Polish territory earlier in the year.
President Andrzej Duda’s position was set out in a statement published by his National Security Bureau (BBN) on Friday. In late April, Poland’s defence ministry said that “the remains of an unidentified military object have been found in the vicinity of the village of Zamość, some 15 kilometres from Bydgoszcz” in the north of the country.

Inflation in Poland is set to drop in the coming months and salaries will start to rise in real terms, according to the head of the country’s central bank.
He made the prediction at a news conference in Warsaw on Thursday. A day earlier, the Polish central bank’s rate-setting Monetary Policy Council left interest rates unchanged, keeping the reference rate at 6.75 percent. The panel had earlier delivered a string of rate hikes in an effort to contain surging consumer prices. Inflation in Poland stood at 14.7 percent in April, according to a flash estimate by the country’s statistics office. Meanwhile, core inflation, excluding the prices of food and energy, was 12.3 percent in March, down from 12 percent in February.

And finally, a gang of car thieves has been broken up by Gdańsk police and their colleagues from Germany.
Police made seven arrests and recovered five stolen vehicles. The operation began in Poznań where police arrested 4 suspects and recovered two cars that had been stolen in Germany hours earlier. Police then carried out operations in the Pomeranian region of Poland, searching 18 premises, discovering five car cloning operations. Investigators found Volkswagens with altered identification numbers, including a car stolen three days earlier in Pruszcz Gdański. According to the investigators, the secured elements of the vehicles come from at least 120 vehicles stolen in Poland and Germany.
