The Polish government has signed a deal with the Italian Ministry of Defence to acquire the use of an Italian missile destroyer to help strengthen Poland’s coastal defence it has been announced.
The Polish defence minister was visiting the Italian capital Rome for talks with his counterpart. While in Rome, the minister also laid flowers at the tomb of the late Polish-born Pope John Paul II in the Vatican. He then attended a Holy Mass for Peace in the Polish Chapel of St. Peter’s Basilica. He also met with Polish scouts and soldiers serving on an EU mission in Italy

Hackers have attempted to attack Polish news websites yesterday in a coordinated attack. The cyberattack was „likely carried out by Russian hacker groups,” officials said.
Some of the affected sites reported “temporary difficulties” with access to content. The Polish government’s commissioner for the security of the information space, said Poland would launch “a technical investigation” into Thursday’s cyberattack. He added that Poland’s cyber security agencies were “well-prepared” for cyber defence. Meanwhile, Poland’s Digitisation Minister said that the government had given all the targeted news websites “an advance warning” about the cyberattack.

A famous climber from Gdańsk has died in an avalanche in the Swiss Alps it has been reported. 38-year-old Kacper Tekieli was a leading Polish climber, having scaled peaks in the Tatra mountains, Alps and Dolomites, and elsewhere, from the Caucasus to Alaska.
He was also a member of Polish expeditions to summit the 8,481-metre Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest mountain, and the 8,011-metre Broad Peak Middle, in the Himalayas. Tekieli was swept by an avalanche while ascending the 4,158-metre Alpine peak of Jungfrau in Switzerland on Wednesday, according to local emergency and rescue services. His body was found on Thursday morning. Tekieli was climbing in Switzerland as part of his project to top all 82 Alpine four-thousanders in the shortest possible time.

And finally, the well-known „school” ship the „Dar Młodzież”, has arrived in Gdynia this week from a training voyage with 118 trainees from Polish maritime schools on board.
The frigate had been on a two-month voyage to Madeira via Antwerp in Belgium during which time students from a number of maritime schools in the region were put through their paces. The „Dar Młodzieży” which translates as „Gift of youth” is a three-masted frigate which was launched in 1981 and has a 3,000 square metre sail area.
