Poland’s Prime Minister has praised the co-operation between Polish and Canadian firms in the development of nuclear technology. Mateusz Morawiecki made the statement at the Darlington New Nuclear Project near Toronto on Friday.
The site will host the world’s first SMR reactor, which is expected to have a capacity of 300 MWh and be ready by 2028.
The Polish prime minister visited Darlinton as part of his trip to Canada for talks on bilateral cooperation in energy.
Later in the day, Morawiecki met with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau. He added that the technology will help Poland secure “a stable and secure supply of energy at affordable prices”.

Participants of the three-day Science for Society Congress, which started yesterday at the Warsaw University of Technology and the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Kajetany, a village in Poland located in the Masovian Voivodeship, will learn about how the results of scientific research affect our everyday lives and the development of society.
The three-day event program features popular science lectures and discussion panels on scientists and their inventions. How artificial intelligence systems for medicine are created, and material engineering achievements for medicine will also be on the Congress’s agenda.
In addition, the program includes a plenary debate on „The future of institutes in Poland”.

Poland’s contribution at a prestigious London design festival has been awarded a medal ‘for the most outstanding overall contribution’. London Design Biennale, which was founded in 2016, promotes international collaboration and the global role of design.
This year’s edition, which runs until June 25th, has brought together designers, innovators, and cultural bodies from 40 countries.
Entitled “Poetics of necessity”, the Polish installation is inspired by the Window project, a call to action to collect reusable windows, given by Poles to Ukrainians stripped of dignified living conditions due to war.
In a Twitter post, Poland’s Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Piotr Gliński, has congratulated the curators and the Institute team on their success.

And finally, recruitment has started at the University of Gdańsk for the new academic year.
There are places available in 93 study fields, encompassing a range of new offerings such as Japanese studies, the art of creative writing, and the preservation of cultural property and museology.
As in previous years, there are approximately 9,000 spots available for full-time studies and 2.6 thousand openings for part-time studies. The university has also expanded its offerings in the field of English and oceanography and geography.
