US chipmaking giant Intel is to invest USD 4.6 billion in a new manufacturing plant in Poland, the company has announced.
The innovative semiconductor assembly and test facility near the southwestern Polish city of Wrocław will be the biggest foreign investment in Polish history, the country’s prime minister has said. The prime minister said it was “a big day for Poland” and described Intel’s planned USD 4.6 billion chip plant as an “absolutely special investment”. Hailing Intel as “a Silicon Valley legend,” Morawiecki said: “This is the largest greenfield investment in Polish history. Intel’s vision for this plant is truly impressive.” Intel’s new facility in Poland will employ 2,000 workers and create several thousand additional jobs during the construction phase and hiring by suppliers, the company said in a statement.
Intel has selected Wrocław, Poland, as the site of a new state-of-the-art semiconductor assembly/test facility.

The leader of the Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party has said that an EU deal to divide responsibility of the distribution of refugees among EU nations must be put to a referendum of the Polish people.
The deal drawn up by the EU states that countries will be allocated a specific quota of people to be responsible for. For countries unwilling to directly accept the migrants and refugees, there would be alternative means of support, such as financial assistance of around 20,000 euros per person. Poland has taken in more than a million and a half refugees fleeing from the war in Ukraine, more than any other country in the EU.

Poland has beaten Germany 1-0 in an international friendly match before ahead of their Euro 2024 qualifier match against Moldova.
Defender Jakub Kiwior scored the only goal of the match from a header in the 31st minute at the National Stadium in Warsaw. The match marked the last international appearance of former Poland captain Jakub Błaszczykowski, who, at 37, was given an official send-off after earning 109 caps with the national team. Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny made a string of spectacular saves to deny the visiting side. Poland are ranked 23rd worldwide by football’s governing body FIFA, while Germany are No. 14 in the FIFA table.

And finally, a mobile shooting range that has been illegally parked near Gdańsk Old Town has been told to move by the city authorities.
The bus which has been fitted out as a mobile shooting range entered the area without a valid permit after paying a local resident to use their parking area which is on private land. City authorities have issued the bus with a ticket which could cost the owner of the bus up to five thousand zl and eight penalty points on their licence. The owner of the vehicle has yet to move it.
