A beatification Mass service has been held in Markowa for the Ulma family murdered by Nazis for hiding Jews during World War Two. This was the first time an entire family has been beatified, a great honour and a step towards sainthood.
In late 1942, motivated by their Christian values, farmers Józef and Wiktoria Ulma and their six young children hid eight Jews in their farmhouse in the village of Markowa. Unlike in Nazi-occupied western Europe, the penalty for aiding Jews in occupied Poland was summary execution. They were executed in 1944 with the Jews they sheltered in south-eastern Poland, after they were betrayed. Speaking at the Vatican, the Pope described the Ulmas as a „ray of light” in the darkness of the war and asked the crowd in St Peter’s Square to give the family a round of applause. In an address at the end, President Andrzej Duda thanked Pope Francis for the „extraordinary” beatification of the whole family.

The chairman of the Law and Justice party Jarosław Kaczyński announced the introduction of internship pensions at a programme conference in Końskie. The age criteria are 38 years for women and 43 years for men, respectively.
The key point is not to wait until the general retirement Confidential age, which in Poland is currently 60 years for women and 65 years for men. This means that this privilege could be utilized by people who started working very early; for example, just after finishing school or during their studies.

A Spanish volunteer became the victim of the war. „32-year-old Emma Igual, head of the aid organization Road to Relief,” was killed in eastern Ukraine, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said.
She was killed in the Bakhmut area when her humanitarian convoy was fired upon by Russian artillery. This is the first Spanish fatality of the war in Ukraine.

The G20 summit in New Delhi ended on Sunday as India handed over the bloc presidency to Brazil. The summit presented a consensus from member countries that condemned the war in Ukraine and called on members to shun the use of force. It also highlighted the human suffering caused by the war.
The French President and Japanese PM called out on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Turkish President, Tayyip Erdogan said, Ankara, Moscow, and Kiev would continue to discuss, renewing a grain deal that ended when Russia pulled out earlier in the summer. The summit also admitted the African union, which includes 55 member states as a permanent member of the G20, underlining the bloc’s inclusivity of more developing countries.
