President Orders Poles to be Evacuated from Gaza
President Andrzej Duda has ordered Polish Forces in Egypt to evacuate Poles from the Gaza Strip. A contingent of about 150 Polish military personnel was ordered by the president: “to evacuate Polish citizens staying in the Gaza Strip in order to protect their lives and health.” The evacuees were reported to be moved anytime from yesterday until November 19 by C-130 and C-295 aircraft.
Earlier this week the Polish Foreign Ministry stated that there were still 29 Polish nationals located in Gaza, however the number of Poles listed by Hamas contains 31 individuals. The list also included Americans, Germans, Canadians, Russians, Romanians, and Brazilians.

Controversy: Jailed Polish Politician Gains Immunity through European Parliament Seat
Wlodzimierz Karpinski, a former Polish treasury minister, has shockingly managed to secure immunity by accepting a seat in the European Parliament. Karpinski has been in pre-trial detention since February pending corruption charges. He was accused of accepting around 5 million PLN in bribes, and his accession of a MEP seat is sparking a polarizing debate.
During a press conference held at the Polish Parliament, or Sejm, PiS MP Daniel Milewski remarked “He will go from a cell to Brussels.” expressing the incredulity of many Polish government representatives and citizens.

Independence Day March in Warsaw
Poland’s National Independence Day was celebrated all over the country yesterday with the main ceremony taking place with the participation of President Andrzej Duda at Piłsudski Square in Warsaw. The ceremony began with the singing of the Polish National anthem Dąbrowski Mazurka followed by a march through the streets of Warsaw.
During his address President Duda reminded the attendees and listeners nationwide about Poland’s struggle for autonomy in the past, and drew parallels with today, making the statement: “Russian imperialism will not stop in Ukraine unless it is rebuked. Russia will want to take away the sovereignty of other countries. We must build the strength of our country and continue programs that ensure our security,” the statement was complemented by US Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski saying “Poland’s long struggle for independence reminds us of the precious value of freedom.”

Poland’s Zieliński Wins Tennis Doubles Final in Moselle
Poland’s Jan Zieliński and Monaco’s Hugo Nys have won the Men’s Doubles Moselle Tennis final in Metz, France. They were victorious against Germany’s Constantin Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens 6-4, 6-4. This is the third final Zielinski and Nys have participated in since January of this year, and the second that they have won.
