Poland will maintain its embargo on grain imports from Ukraine „indefinitely,” to protect Polish farmers, while continuing to help Ukraine’s fight against the Russian invasion, the agriculture minister has said.

Speaking after a meeting with farmers’ groups, the agriculture minister stated that „the embargo on Ukrainian products will remain in force indefinitely.” He added that „Ukraine must be assisted” amid Russia’s aggression, but „in a way that does not undermine the profitability of Polish agricultural production.” On Wednesday, Poland’s farm minister said the ban on Ukrainian grain would remain in force until Warsaw, Kyiv and the European Union, agree on „new terms,” including „quotas and temporary measures”.

A set of quadruplets has been born on Wednesday in a hospital in Poznań, western Poland. Naturally occurring quadruplets pregnancies are extremely rare, occurring in only one in almost every 700,000 pregnancies.

The last time quadruplets were born in Poland was in 2022 in Warsaw. The four girls – Laura, Hanna, Sofia and Lilianna – were born in the 32nd week of pregnancy by a caesarean operation. The smallest of them weighs 1590 grams; the largest – 1875 grams. Their condition is described as stable but they have to remain in intensive care. The parents, who are the residents of a village near Poznań, already have a son who now has 4 sisters to welcome into the world and buy birthday presents for.
