The European Union has secured an extra 300 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by US drug maker Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech, bringing the total from the two firms to 600 million doses, European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday. „It will boost vaccination across Europe,” she added, amid criticism that too few shots were available to citizens and that the rollout has been too slow. Overall, the European Commission has secured 2.3 billion doses of the most promising COVID-19 vaccines.

Polish police said on Friday they have dismantled a large cyber-crime gang which used fake websites to trick people out of their money. Police said that the gang operated several dozen fake internet stores, which were used to trick several thousand people who paid for goods but never received them.
According to officers, 60 people have been charged and 28 were detained in the case. The charges include directing and participating in an organized criminal group, money laundering, computer fraud, theft by breaking into bank accounts and hacking.
Officers carried out more than 100 searches, and seized electronic equipment, bank cards, face masks and disguises used to withdraw money from ATMs as well as weapons and drugs.

The British Minister for Transport has thanked the Polish government and the Polish Territorial Defense Forces for their help during the recent congestion that was experienced at port of Dover in the UK at the end of December.
The Minister wrote a letter of thanks to the Polish Ambassador in London which has since been published. In the letter, the minister wrote, „I am writing to express their deep gratitude and appreciation for the help offered by the Polish government in alleviating the significant disruptions in Kent in recent weeks.
The support of the Polish Territorial Defense Forces in testing was invaluable and allowed many thousands of drivers to safely cross the border and return to their families as soon as possible”.

Polish prosecutors have said they have filed an indictment against a man over an attack on three members of a TV crew after a search of a villa belonging to a prominent businessman in Gdynia.
Prosecutors said the suspect, named only as “Aleksander K” punched a cameraman working for state broadcaster TVP in the head, then kicked him in the head after he fell to the ground.
The incident took place on October 15 after agents from Poland’s Central Anti-corruption Bureau entered the villa of prominent businessman Ryszard Krauze to carry out a search. Businessman Ryszard Krauze has been described by the media as one of Poland’s richest men who is suspected with 11 others of taking part in an operation to siphon PLN 90 million out of the Polish company Polnord.
