The Chinese foreign minister has added his voice to the statements from the Chinese government that it will not provide weapons to either side in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

The minister made the statement at a news conference in Beijing amid Western concerns that Beijing is considering supplying arms to Moscow.

Meeting the media alongside his visiting German counterpart, China’s top diplomat said: “Regarding the export of military items, China adopts a prudent and responsible attitude. China will not provide weapons to relevant parties of the conflict”. The minister is the highest-level Chinese official to make such an explicit statement about weapons sales to Russia.

And finally, a Soviet T-34 tank which was destroyed at the end of the 2nd World War has been unearthed in the coastal district of Jelitkowo in Gdańsk.

The remains of the tank are now being recovered and preserved by a local historical society. The location of the tank was known to a local resident who showed it to the team of conservationists from the „Latebra” foundation in the city, who then began the work of excavating and recovering the remains. The forested areas of Jelitkowo were scenes of fierce fighting towards the end of the war. Retrieval work will continue this weekend.
