Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appealed to citizens and defense forces to prepare for another round of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine.
In his daily video address last night, Zelensky warned that the coming week „could be as hard” as the previous one as „the terrorists are preparing new strikes, and as long as they have missiles, they won’t stop.” The warning comes as temperatures across the region remain near freezing and an estimated six million people in Ukraine remain without power.
In his message, Zelensky described how the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the whole state „are preparing” in an attempt to be ready for potential attacks. He appealed to citizens to do their part and pay attention to air alerts while supporting those in need of assistance. „But our ability to help each other and take care of the most vulnerable – the elderly, families with children, those who lost homes and relatives in the war – our mutual assistance is one of the elements of protection against terror and our strength. Together and helping each other, we will pass this challenge of war as well… Together, we’ll endure everything” he explained.

The Polish government has approved a proposal to freeze natural gas prices for households at 2022 levels to reduce the impact of surging prices on consumers.
Climate Minister Anna Moskwa told a news conference on Friday that the government was proposing „a 100 percent freeze on the gas tariff that households will pay at this year’s level in terms of the net amount.”
Moskwa said there would be no income criteria for the tariff freeze. According to reports from the Polish Press Agency, those whose income does not exceed a set rate, roughly PLN 2,100 for single payers and 1,500 per person for multi-person households, can also count on a refund of the VAT paid when buying gas.
According to the draft act adopted by the Council of Ministers last week, in 2023 the maximum price for gaseous fuels will be introduced at the level of approximately PLN 200/MWh, and distribution fee rates will be frozen.

The annual „SOS – Pomoc” bus has started running its usual route through Gdańsk to support those in crisis or experiencing homelessness during the difficult winter season.
As in previous years, those without shelter or otherwise in need can count on a bowl of hot soup and access to warm clothes from the „SOS – Pomoc” bus. Social workers and paramedics can also provide additional assistance, including medical consultations and information about resources in Gdańsk for those in crisis.
The bus runs daily and has a set route: around 8:15 p.m., it will be at the bus terminus at the SKM station in Przymorze, around 9:15 p.m. it can be found in the parking lot between the market square and the police station at ul. Biała in Wrzeszcz, and around 10:15 p.m., the SOS bus will be parked in the bus bay next to the former „Krewetka” cinema opposite Dworzec Główny. The last stop of the day will be around 11:00 p.m. near the night shelter at ul. Mostowa 1A where those who need shelter can spend the night or get warm.

All this week Radio Gdańsk will be giving away tickets for our youngest listeners to attend a special holiday-themed performance at Teatr Miniatura in Gdańsk.
As part of the „Cultural Weekend with Radio Gdańsk,” presenters will be giving away a pair of tickets each day this week after 12:00 a.m. noon to a special showing of „Magiczne Święta Malwiny” or „Malvina’s Magical Holidays” on Saturday, December 10 at 3 p.m. Much like „the grinch” in the classic dr. Seuss’s story, Malvina is a grumpy wizard who must be reminded of the true nature of Christmas by a group of enthusiastic carol singers.
Before the performance, little listeners will also have a chance to support the charity campaign „Pomorze Biega i Pomoc.” At a specially prepared stand, Radio Gdańsk will provide guests with charity t-shirts, coloring books, and a chance to meet and greet the radio mascot.
