A passenger train collided head-on with a freight train in Tempi, central Greece, on Tuesday, killing at least 36 people and injuring dozens more.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau expressed their condolences to the victims’ families in posts on social media, wishing “full and fast” recoveries for survivors of the crash.
The two trains were traveling toward one another on the same track at speeds estimated at up to 160km per hour when they crashed head-on into one another. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash, which is Greece’s deadliest in living memory.

The Polish government has condemned the destruction of a church fresco in Belarus depicting Poland’s victory over the Soviet Union in the 1920 Battle of Warsaw.
The fresco, which had adorned the wall of a church in the village of Soly, in what is now western Belarus, was painted over on the orders of the Belarusian authorities, according to reports from the Polish state news agency (PAP).
Journalist Ksenia Lebedeva criticized the wall painting on Belarusian state TV last December, saying the depiction incited “ethnically and religiously motivated hatred.”
The fresco had previously been painted over during the Soviet era but was renovated and restored after the fall of the Soviet Union, according to the Katolik.life website.

Polish tennis star Hubert Hurkacz has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships in the United Arab Emirates after defeating Pavel Kotov of Russia 7-5, 6-1 on Tuesday.
The No.11-ranked Hurkacz will now face world No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia today at 16:00 CET for a place in the final four of the tournament.
Last week, Hurkacz took home his sixth ATP singles title after winning the Marseille Open tennis tournament in France.

Tomorrow is the deadline for women in Pomerania to sign up for a free series of professional development workshops, webinars, and consultations organized by the Voivodeship Labor Office in Gdańsk.
The “March on high heels” program is designed for women living in Pomerania who are currently looking for work, want to return to the labor market after a long break, are thinking about retraining or changing professions, or are looking to start their own business.
As emphasized by Dorota Botkowska, career counselor of the Voivodeship Labor Office in Gdańsk, the program focuses heavily on providing psychological support and training as this is one of the main barriers for women looking to change their career or make other significant life changes.
Courses on offer include workshops on building self-confidence, skills to deal with stress, and managing a professional presence online.

As part of its “Cultural Weekend” program, Radio Gdańsk is giving away free tickets to the dark comedy play “Arsenic and Old Lace” at the Municipal Theater in Gdynia on March 12.
Listeners can win a free pair of tickets by listening to Radio Gdańsk after 7:00 and again at 12:00 noon from now until March 8 or by following updates on the Radio Gdańsk Facebook page.
“Arsenic and Old Lace” is a dark comedy directed by Krzysztof Babicki and adapted from a popular Broadway play from 1941, later made into a classic film starring Hollywood legend Cary Grant.
The story features two charming elderly aunts, several glasses of elderberry wine, and bodies in the cellar discovered by clueless nephew Mortimer, who thinks his delusional brother Teddy is to blame.
A special performance of “Arsenic and Old Lace” will be staged for listeners of Radio Gdańsk on Sunday, March 12, at 17:00 at the Municipal Theater in Gdynia.
