The Pentagon has officially confirmed the United States will allocate USD 250 million in military assistance for Ukraine to strengthen the country’s capacity to counter Russian aggression, a Polish website has reported.
The jagiellonia.org website cited the US Department of Defence as describing Poland’s eastern neighbour Ukraine as “a critical partner” amid “strategic competition with Russia.” In April 2018 the US State Department confirmed a delivery of American-made anti-tank missile systems to Ukraine amid a protracted conflict that has seen Russia-backed separatists battling Ukrainian troops.

Consumer sentiment in Poland has edged up in June in a second straight month of improvement after a severe slump earlier this year, the country’s Central Statistical Office reported on Thursday. As the economy emerges from the coronavirus lockdown, the statistics agency said its Current Consumer Confidence Index, which describes current trends in personal consumption, improved by 10.7 points from May, while remaining in negative territory of “minus 19.4” points. Compared with June last year, the Current Consumer Confidence Index was 29 points lower, the statistical office said. The consumer confidence indicators take values from -100 to +100. A positive value means that optimistic attitudes prevail among consumers, while a negative value indicates a prevalence of pessimistic views.

And finally, a polish daredevil has climbed one of the large cranes in Gdańsk shipyard without ropes. Marcin Banot, who is well known for climbing high structures around Europe posted the video on his YouTube channel earlier in the week which has already gained hundreds of views. It took him 16 minutes to scale the 50 metre high crane. Banot has previously scaled the Marriot hotel in Warsaw and a 250 metre high chimney in Szczecin. There is a less extreme way to achieve the same goal – visitors can take the stairs to the top of the crane for 15 złoty.
