The minister of health, Adam Niedzielski, says that Poland will see further increases in COVID-19 infection rates in the coming weeks.
Niedzielski wrote on Twitter that there has been a 13 percent increase in the past week, and said that stabilisation of infections is a thing of the past.
He pointed to the increasing reproductive rate of the coronavirus, the so-called R number, which has risen again to the value of 1.
The R number indicates how many people can statistically be infected by one person—if it’s higher than one, one patient can infect more than one other person.

Polish government 'will talk’ to European Court of Justice about controversial overhaul of Poland’s justice system.
The Polish government is to enter into dialogue with the European Court of Justice about a series of changes to Poland’s justice system which have sparked huge criticism.
The deputy prime minister, Jarosław Gowin, told Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper that the Polish government will be in talks with the European justice body, and said that he can see room for compromise.
Last week the European Court of Justice ruled that Poland’s disciplinary system for judges was in conflict with EU law.
Previously the Polish government, led by the Law and Justice party, has said that the European Court of Justice has no jurisdiction over how Poland’s justice system is organised.
Deputy prime minister Gowin said he considers the judicial overhaul a failure because it didn’t involve the necessary dialogue with the judges.

Regulators to investigate how Polish banks take care of customers’ money
Consumer protection regulators have begun investigating how major banks secure their customers’ accounts, after rising complaints of money being stolen.
The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection said it will examine how 18 banks secure transactions, and how they deal with customer complaints.
The president of the consumer protection body, Tomasz Chróstny, says his office has been receiving increasing reports of banks refusing to recognise complaints from customers who’ve lost money to fraudsters.
The list of 18 banks includes many high street names such as Alior, Millennium, Plus, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, mBank and Santander.
The consumer protection office advises that anyone who notices an unauthorised transaction on their account should notify both their bank and the police as soon as possible.

Shift in weather systems sees the end of Poland’s prolonged heatwave
The long spell of hot weather across Poland has come to an end, for now at least—and rain is expected to replace the heat in many places.
Temperatures on Tuesday have dropped several degrees, with central areas of Poland in the low twenties Celsius, whereas the same places touched the low thirties in recent days.
The Polish meteorological office said changeable weather is now in store, with rain possible in almost every part of the country today.
Warnings for heavy rain are in place for the far south east of Poland, including the Bieszczady region, and the Tatra mountains, with downpours of 30 to 40mm predicted in places.
The risk of localised flooding is still there, but this is much less than in recent days.
