The foreign ministers of Poland, Sweden, North Macedonia and Ukraine have reaffirmed their countries’ support for Ukraine during a meeting in the south east of Poland yesterday.

The leaders were hosting Ukraine’s Foreign Minister in their capacity as leaders of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Poland presides over the OSCE in 2022, Sweden led the OSCE last year, while North Macedonia will take over for the duration of 2023. During the meeting the leaders also referred to the to Friday’s brutal attack on the railway station in Ukraine’s eastern city of Kramatorsk where dozens were killed in a rocket attack. Both Ukraine and Russia have since blamed each other for the deadly attack.

The Polish Prime Minister has said that Poland will advocate for Moldova to join the EU as he pledged support for the ex-Soviet country’s European aspirations.

The Polish PM was hosting his counterpart at his office in Warsaw on Friday. The two prime ministers also signed off on Poland’s EUR 20 million long-term loan to Moldova. They also approved a three-year programme of bilateral cooperation in culture, education and science.

Two people have been confirmed dead after a yacht capsized yesterday afternoon about 400 metres away from the Gdynia marina.

The captain and one of the crew of the racing yacht were recovered alive from the water soon after it capsized. A search and rescue mission continued into the night. The accident is thought to have happened at around noon yesterday. The weather conditions were fairly good, but there were strong gusts of wind at the time. One body has been recovered and the search mission for the 2nd missing person, presumed dead, was ongoing as at 9am this morning.
