Polish president Andrzej Duda has said that the only way to defeat Russia in Ukraine is through the use of brute force and arms. Speaking in an interview with Wall Street Journal, Duda said that the West should keep supplying weapons to Ukraine and not be put off by threats from Russia.

Poland has provided Ukraine with more than 200 tanks, 100 infantry fighting vehicles and 100,000 rifles, alongside drones, self-propelled howitzers and other armoured vehicles needed to wage the war with Russia which has entered its 10th week.

Polish oil refiner PKN Orlen has said that it will be able to secure its supplies to customers despite the EU proposing a complete ban on Russian oil in Europe.

The head of the European Union’s executive, Ursula von der Leyen, has proposed a phased embargo on Russian oil in response to the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine. The proposed EU ban on Russian oil needs to be approved by the 27 member states before it can take effect. Hungary has already said that it will veto the plan saying that it will „destroy” the Hungarian economy.

The European Parliament held a debate on Poland’s Constitution Day to discuss Poland’s alleged breaches of so called „Rule of Law” provisions, stating that Poland owes EUR 160 million.

Last year, the EU fined Poland EUR 1 million a day to prevent „serious and irreparable harm” to the bloc’s legal order and values, officials said at the time. The EU imposed the fine until Warsaw changes its rules for disciplining judges, which according to Brussels undermine judicial independence. A resolution on the „rule of law” provisions in Hungary in Poland will be put to a vote by European lawmakers on Thursday.

The Caritas charity in Gdańsk has prepared and sent a truck with aid to Lviv in Ukraine. This is the 7th such transport arranged by the Catholic charity.

The aid will be distributed by priests working in and around Lviv. The transport consists of parcels that were prepared by local parishes around Gdańsk. So far, Caritas has shipped over 180 tons of food and basic necessities to Ukraine contained in around 190 pallets. The charity is asking for more donations from Gdańsk residents, especially flour, sugar, groats and rice. Donations can be brought to the Caritas Crisis Center Warehouse in Gdańsk, located at 58 Ku Ujście Street between Stogi and Przeróbka districts.
