Polish President to travel to Egypt to discuss food crisis

The Polish President is set to travel to Egypt next week to discuss the current global food crisis which is happening as a result of the war in Ukraine. President Duda will arrive on Sunday with the First Lady and will first meet with Polish ex-pats in the capital, Cairo. During the next two days, Duda is scheduled to hold talks with the Egyptian President and Prime Minister, as well as attend a Polish-Egyptian Economic Forum, among other meetings. A Polish presidential aide said the discussions with Egypt’s top politicians would focus on „the food situation.” The north African country is among dozens of states that import much of their grain from Russia and Ukraine.

Zelensky rebukes Kissinger over peace deal remarks

The President of Ukraine has issued a strong rebuke to the former US Secretary of State and veteran statesman Henry Kissinger over comments he made that Ukraine should be prepared to concede some territory to Russia in order to secure peace in Ukraine. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the 98 year old said that failing to restart negotiations could have serious consequences for long term European stability. In response, Zelensky said that Kissinger’s „calendar seemed to be set for 1938 and not 2022” and that he had mistaken his location as „Munich and not Davos”.

US forces set to be permanently stationed in Poland

The US is preparing to deploy a permanent military force in Poland in an apparent response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Polish media has reported. News of the move was revealed by Poland’s polskatimes.pl website, which cited two separate off-the-record sources in the Polish government. To date, US soldiers have been stationed in Poland on a rotating basis. The decision to make their presence permanent will be announced at NATO’s upcoming summit in Madrid on June 29-30, the website reported, quoting a government official with knowledge of the matter.

Sniffer dog finds PLN 12.5 million of cocaine at Gdańsk port

And finally, a sniffer dog at Gdańsk container port has rooted out 50 kg of cocaine, worth PLN 12.5 million during a routine inspection. According to the documents related to a specific container, the inspected container was supposed to contain synthetic rubber. However, the canine officer Buzz , trained in drug detection, was of a different opinion. When the officers dismantled one of the sides of the container, they found 45 rectangular parcels wrapped in foil and duct taped underneath it. The packages contained a white powder which turned out to be cocaine destined for the streets of Poland and Europe.
