Poland to shut border with Belarus for both Belarusian and Russian trucks and trailers | Poland to push for EU probe into Russian influence in European politics | Historic sailing ship the „Dar Młodzieży” set sail yesterday from Gdynia on six month journey

From June 1st until further notice, freight traffic for crossing the border with Belarus will be suspended for trucks and trailers, including semi-trailers and vehicle combinations registered on the territory of Belarus and Russia, a decree by Poland’s Interior Ministry has stated.

Earlier yesterday, the head of the Interior Ministry also decided to put 365 representatives of the Belarusian regime on Poland’s sanction list, as well as 20 entities and 16 entrepreneurs linked to Moscow. This followed the Belarusian Supreme Court ruling which upheld the conviction of Polish minority activist Andrzej Poczobut to eight years in a maximum security penal colony.

Today marks day 461 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Poland will advocate for the creation of an EU commission into Russian influence in European politics, the Polish prime minister has said. Earlier in the day yesterday, Poland’s President Duda said he had decided to back the formation of a state commission for investigating alleged Russian influence in Polish politics, and called for a similar body to be created „at the European level.”

Prime Minister Morawiecki stated that he will definitely be pushing the issue at the next European Council. He announced yesterday in Radom, that such an inquiry would be „controlled by the European Parliament, the EU’s executive Commission and member states.”

The next meeting of the European Council is scheduled for June 29-30 in Brussels.

The creation by Jan Woźnica entitled „Tales of the Space Age,” is now available for purchase, captivating fans with its minimalist allure and a 1980s poster style.

The 688-piece set came about after Woźnica entered his designs in the Lego Ideas competition, which allows fans to design their own Lego set and share it online. If there is enough interest in a project, there is a chance that it will become an official Lego product with mass production and distribution.

Woźnica uploaded his design in November 2021 and garnered the 10,000 votes required for evaluation. In October last year, Lego finally gave the green light to Woźnica’s set to be sold in their prestigious range of toy kits.

Built in Gdynia and first launched in 1982, the sailing ship is used primarily for educational purposes as a training vessel for Maritime University students. It was one of six built for the merchant fleet of the former Soviet Union.

Translated the ship is named „Gift of Youth” – it is a three-masted Polish frigate, type B-95.

On board the vessel taking part in the trip; the crew consists of 32, the rest being 53 students – 23 of whom have joined from the Odesa Maritime University in Ukraine. The ship has over 12,000 nautical miles to travel, which is approximately 22,000 kilometres. The journey will include crossing the equator in the Atlantic.

The ship and crew are scheduled to return to Gdynia on November 11th.
