The Polish government is organising more flights to evacuate its citizens from Israel following the recent outbreak of war in the country, a deputy foreign minister has said.
The deputy foreign minister said the government was above all seeking to evacuate Poles who were on short-term visits to Israel, such as tourists and pilgrims. He added: “If necessary, we’ll also evacuate Poles who are living in Israel on a permanent basis.” At 5 a.m. yesterday, the first evacuation plane, a military Boeing aircraft landed at Warsaw’s Okęcie airport, bringing 120 Poles back from Israel. Later yesterday morning, two Hercules military planes brought more Polish citizens from Israel.

Poland’s main political groupings outlined their policy ideas in a televised debate on yesterday evening, focusing on issues such as migration, privatisation and the retirement age, as the country prepares to elect a new parliament on October 15th.
The debate was aired live by public broadcaster TVP at 6:30 p.m. Taking part were politicians from the six groups that have put forward candidates for parliament in all the constituencies across Poland, according to officials. The politicians took turns to answer a total of seven questions; in the first round, they outlined their groupings’ policy proposals on migration. The following rounds focused on privatisation, the retirement age, security, unemployment, and social policy. In round seven, each of the participating politicians were allowed to address the audience on a topic of their choice.

The Polish government has signed an agreement with the port of Gdańsk for the construction of a grain terminal, the minister for farming has said.
He added the deal for the construction of the grain terminal was signed by the state-run company RSSI and the port of Gdańsk. He stressed the government “didn’t allow Ukrainian grain to flood the Polish market,” to protect the interests of Polish farmers, “rather than of bureaucrats from Brussels.” Last month, Poland introduced a ban on Ukrainian grain imports, after the European Union’s executive Commission decided not to extend its embargo on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed, sunflower and sunflower oil from Ukraine to Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, according to news outlets.

And finally, one person was injured last night after a fire broke out in an apartment block in the historic centre of the old town in Gdańsk in the early hours of the morning this morning.
The injured man was a 29-year-old who tried to extinguish the fire. One of the rooms in the block was partially damaged. Six teams of fire-fighters extinguished the blaze and the teams were damping down the scene until around 4 am. Meanwhile, a fire in an apartment block in the Chełm district of the city injured one man who tried to put out the flames at around 6pm yesterday evening.
