President Andrzej Duda has bestowed state awards to doctors, nurses, and medical rescue workers who provided care for Ukrainians since Russia’s invasion last February.

The accolades were presented by head of National Security Bureau (BBN) Jacek Siewiera to medical staff from the Polish Prime Minister’s Office, Border Guard Agency, Polish Medical Air Rescue (LPR) and the Humanosh Foundation.

Poland’s Opposition Parties Agree on Coalition

A coalition Agreement has been signed by the leaders of 4 of Poland’s opposition parties looking to form a coalition government. The agreement calls for wide changes in policy towards the judiciary, the reinstatement of pensions for former communist officials and communist secret police agents as well as shutting down the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau. It also calls for a greater level of cooperation with the EU and a more green policies. The Polish Parliament, or in Polish Sejm, will meet for the first time after the elections this Monday. The incumbent Government will formally resign and look to form a new government which will need to be approved by a majority of MPs. If this is unsuccessful, Sejm can appoint a new government if there are enough votes. If the Bill fails to pass, new elections would be held.

Poland’s Independence Day Celebrations

November 11th is commemorated in the Western world as the end of WW1 in 1918 with solemn celebrations held in the word’s capitals. For Central Europe, after the fall of Germany, Austria and the collapse of Tsarist Russia, it was an opportunity for many nations from Estonia, through Poland down to Romania, to reclaim their independence.

In Celebration of the 105th Anniversary of Poland’s Independence after 123 years of occupation by Germany, Austria and Russia, there are numerous parades, concerts, and athletic events held every year all over Poland. In the Tri-City area particularly, parades made their way through Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot from earlier this morning and will last until this afternoon, followed by concerts, festivals, church events, memorials a 10km run at the port of Gdańsk, and a cycling event in Sopot. There were expected to be 35,000 plus participants in Gdańsk alone, a large turnout of locals and visitors alike is expected to take part in celebrating the independence of this proud and ancient country. Legia Warsaw Beats Bosnia’s Zrinjski Mostar

Legia Warsaw defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Zrinjski Mostar 2-0 at home on Thursday night. The Polish cup holders won in front of 24,000 fans at the municipal stadium in Warsaw, achieving a double victory against their opponents since defeating them in Mostar 2-1 last month.
